Our petition drive is going strong. More than 1,600 Ridgewood residents, including about 300 children, and 822 nonresidents (including many former residents) have signed our petition on paper or online so far! Here's what it says:

We ask the Ridgewood Village Council to resist replacing Graydon's sandy beaches and large swimming area with a much smaller concrete pool or pools and to postpone issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) until less-invasive alternatives to enhance the existing facility have been explored.

Download and print this petition (PDF format): petition form

Ask your friends, neighbors, and others to sign it. Print out as many as you think you can personally fill. Keep one with you all the time (folding is OK). Show it to people standing next to you on line in the grocery store, sitting next to you in the hair salon, and while waiting to pick up your kids at school. Invite some neighbors over for a discussion and signing. Or just place a petition page and a pen on a table when you're entertaining. Your guests will get the hint!

Explain that all this petition does is to ask the Village Council to SLOW DOWN. It also provides a space for email addresses for those who would like to join our mailing list.

What to do with the signed petitions: Go to 567 Van Buren St. and place them in the cooler on the front porch.

Directions: Driving north on Northern Parkway above Glen Ave., pass Eldon Court on the left. Make the next left onto Van Buren. First house on the left.

Pitch in so we can all dive in again next summer and many summers to come. We are counting on you to make the petition count high.

Thank you and good luck!

Swimmingly,

Suzanne Kelly and Marcia Ringel
